Dr. David Thode

Dr. David Thode - Cook Street Village Dental

Hi, I’m Dr. David Thode! As soon as I start talking, you’ll know I’m not from around here. Originally from Australia, I attended the University of Sydney, first studying psychology and then completing my degree in dentistry. My psychology background still shapes how I practice. Many people come in carrying past frustration or fear about the dentist, so I start by listening. When approaching a dental problem, my job is to find a solution that fits your situation, your goals and your budget. Whether it's missing teeth that make eating a challenge or a smile you'd rather hide in photos, we'll build a plan together.

After practising in Mount Isa, one of the hottest towns in Australia, I decided to swap extremes and challenge the coldest of winters in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Three years later, I realized the coast was calling me home, so I moved to Victoria and opened Cook Street Village Dental. I first visited Cook Street Village on vacation in 2015 and was struck by the mature trees, the views from Dallas Road and, most of all, the sense of community. Outside the office, I'm a big sports fan: football, rugby and water polo, plus hockey now that I've been in Canada a while. (The in-laws have informed me I'm a Calgary Flames fan, which has been a bit of a roller coaster.) I also lift weights and love to cook, whether that's sous vide or behind a grill. Patients are always sharing their favourite hikes and restaurants around the island, so when you're in for your next appointment, keep the recommendations coming!

Ongoing training through the Kois Institute and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry allows Cook Street Village Dental to offer a broad range of treatment in-house, from implants and cosmetic work to sedation for nervous patients.

Whatever brings you in, I look forward to meeting you and helping you feel good about your smile.

Dr. Anastazia Winnett

Dr. Winnett' - Cook Street Village Dental

Hello! I'm Dr. Anastazia Winnett. I grew up in southern Ontario and have been practising dentistry for over 20 years. I earned an Honours degree in Biochemistry at McMaster University, then my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Schulich School of Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario in 2003. My career has taken me across Canada, from Ontario and Nova Scotia to the Northwest Territories and Alberta, and my family and I are proud to now call Victoria home. While I use my expertise to plan treatments that will help you attain your desired smile goals, I also want every visit for my patients and their family to feel comfortable and positive.

Outside the office, I'm usually skiing at Mt. Washington, biking or playing pickleball with my husband and our two kids. I also volunteer at my children's school and love getting creative with cake decorating. I look forward to getting to know you at your next visit to Cook Street Village Dental.
